Biography of Philip II, King of Spain and Portugal (Valladolid, 1527 - The Escorial, 1598). He was the son of Charles I and Isabella of Portugal. He modernized and strengthened the management structure of the Hispanic Monarchy, moving it away from the medieval traditions and aspirations of world domination that had characterized the reign of his father.
