The Word in Play : Language, Music, and Movement in the Classroom

Creative classrooms can become a reality in schools, and this work puts that goal within reach. Teachers will find scripted lessons on introducing language skills through different types of poems, and unscripted, step-by-step sample lessons that build on concepts from the scripted lessons. Through examples of workshops the authors conducted with in-service and preservice educators across the country and in Canada, readers will see how teachers honed and practiced their own creativity as they became students themselves and deepened their understanding of the creative and emotional challenges their students would be facing.
