Fred Gann is a believer in second chances. As a dedicated teacher, principal, and organizer of alternative schools, he valued each individual in his classroom and school as a kid who deserved an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and, therefore, have a better chance at life. Mr. Gann was able to look past the tough, apparently flawed facade of at-risk kids and recognize their innate potential when most school administrators, society, and, for some, even parents had written them off as lost causes. With entertaining and informative highlights of his thirty-two year career, Fred Gann takes the reader along on his journey as an advocate for at-risk kids. One could surmise that many of Mr. Ganns students would not have received their high school diplomas if he had not believed and was a determined to prove that anything less than their success was an option.
