Thought Control takes apart misconceived belief. Because 'belief' is the default state of consciousness, we causally accept virtually any tale without regard for evidence, logic, or reason. This flaw stems from the fact that abstract language came late to Homo sapiens (a mere 50 to 75 thousand years ago). The brain evolved before language so we lack 'nonsense' filters for words, and this makes us highly vulnerable to deception. We handle objective reality with ease, but are easily fooled by wordy abstraction. Without natural immunity, delusion and dogma often replace common sense. Curiosity and skepticism are seldom taught, so kids grow up on diets of cultural religiosity, bathed by storms of fallacy and folly. Free-thinking is suppressed to the point where we have to conform socially and politically or suffer ostracism from main-stream society. All this keeps us open to reckless ideologies which have been humanities's bane throughout history.
