Cooking with an Accent, an Immigration Lawyer's Cookbook

Cooking with an Accent, an Immigration Lawyer's Cookbook is written by Mira Mdivani, an immigration lawyer in the Kansas City Metro Area. She invited her clients and friends to her house to cook over several hot summer weekends in 2004. They cooked, talked, laughed and ate while Photographer Elizabeth Cook took pictures. Graphic Designer Linh Trieu recorded their recipes and stories from all over the world, literally from Singapore and Peru to Great Bend, Kansas, and transformed them all into a cookbook. The book is filled with exotic and familiar recipes, as well as coming-to-America stories of family, hardship, love and the American dream.
