Ever present at the top of search results, Wikipedia is #6 worldwide in website traffic. Of the top 1 sites most visited sites, only Wikipedia is noncommercial. The vision statement of its governing Wikimedia Foundation is libraryish: "Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge." Despite the common mission, libraries have not embraced Wikipedia. It's a lost opportunity.Wikipedia's highly ranked articles could drive web traffic to libraries. Active Wikipedians seek high quality sources, and libraries' quality sources are the gold standard.
