Journal of Turkish Literature, Issue 2 2005

Encompassing the complete literature of the Turks, among the oldest of living literatures, the annual Journal embraces a geography that reaches from East Central Asia to Europe and a history that covers the Seljuk Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and modern Turkey. This second issue broadens the horizons of Turkish literature by including a major article on the relationship between poet and patron in the Ottoman tradition; an introductory history of Turkish theater in the era of the Republic; and review articles that critique from a variety of perspectives, including The Other Side of the Mountain by Turkish novelist Erendiz Atas .
