Science in the Elementary and Middle School

Unique in its focus, Science in the Elementary and Middle School examines both the nature of science (what it means to be a scientist) and the nature of students (the process of learning science). Unlike other texts that include many activities for children and specific information on content taught in elementary science classes (earth science, life science, physical science), Wolfinger instead focuses the second half of the book on the teaching of science--attitudes and issues, strategies, curriculum integration, and evaluation--and integrates many activities for preservice teachers.
