This book provides an account of the production, distribution and storage of medical literature from the earliest times. This third edition, edited by Alain Besson, is in keeping with the author's original intention and retains the basic structure of the first two editions. A new team of contributors have each provided chapters on their specialized subject. The opening chapter now focuses on the production and transmission of medical manuscripts in the West.
