The Body in Nursing : A Collection of Views

This work draws together the various perspectives of a group of nurse researchers addressing the central theme of the body and embodiment in nursing. It is an expanding field characterized by increasing attention to the fact that no matter what the diagnosis, nurses deal with people and their bodies in an intimate and sophisticated, but largely unconscious way. The aim is to stimulate discussion about the body as a fundamental concern for the discipline of nursing, and how nurses can think about, study, theorize and respond to it therapeutically in practice.
