Down among the Dead Men

When Inspector Rafferty sees the popular Barbara Longman lying so peacefully in the flower-filled meadow by the River Tiffey, he finds it hard to believe that she's dead. Her murder bears all the signs of the Suffolk serial killer, but Rafferty has the feeling that a copycat murderer must be at work. With the help of Sergeant Llewellyn, Rafferty begins to question Barbara's family, descendants of the rich and powerful Maximillian Shore. As the enquiries continue, it becomes clear that every person in the Shore household had plenty of motives for wanting Barbara out of the way. The duo's instincts tell them that Barbara's death is somehow connected with the family's long-dead patriarch, but they can solve nothing until they gain some firm proof of the killer's identity.
