Positioned between Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, the Mediterranean has played a varied but nonetheless essential role throughout history. This book explores the many dimensions of the Mediterranean's geographical personality from a perspective that recognizes the physical environmental characteristics and cultural interactions which link the different Mediterranean states as a recognisable geographic entity.
